Most people focus all their attention on the solar panels themselves. That makes sense. But what actually determines whether a ground-mount system holds up long-term is the groundwork underneath it - and that part often gets rushed or skipped altogether.

Here's what we were working with: a residential property that needed full site prep to support a ground-mount solar array. That means more than just digging holes for the posts. The surrounding ground gets disturbed, the driveway takes a beating from equipment, and if nobody addresses that before they leave - the homeowner is stuck with a mess. We don't leave job sites like that.

Once the structural work was done, we spread fresh topsoil around the base of the array to get the lawn area back into shape. That's the kind of finishing detail that matters. It keeps the site from eroding around the posts and gives the grass a fighting chance to come back in. The driveway got compacted and graded back out too - smooth, solid, and ready to hold up through whatever comes next.

That's really what site preparation is about. It's not just clearing ground so someone else can build something. It's making sure every part of the site - from the install area to the access path - is set up to perform. Good grading and compaction isn't glamorous work, but it's the difference between a clean, lasting result and one that causes problems down the road.
